Warp Printed "ILLUSION" Shirt
The warp printed "ILLUSION" shirt for Volume V is by far one of the most technical pieces within the collection, with each shirt taking around SEVEN DAYS to produce. The garment is produced by way of a traditional printing technique known as "Warp Printing". Fine cotton threads are assembled on a beam which are then printed on by hand carved wooden blocks and then woven by a traditional hand loom. This technique gives the fabric a very faded and textured look similar to the effect of water colours. The narrative meaning behind this technique is a reference to the the juxtaposition of youthful exuberance and feelings of emptiness and identity crisis.
